Sebrinah's Fried or Baked Kunyit Fish Recipe

My first time cooking fish at my own home. My second time cooking fish in my whole life!

Simple recipe, either fried or baked. It's your choice. I wanted to fry it like my mum always do but the minute I started frying the fish, my stove ran out of GAS! EPIC!! So I wrapped it up and baked it. So 2 ways of cooking I will share here hehe...

Ingredients
Ikan Tenggiri or the fish of your choice (I like "Ma Yau fish" or "Red fish" but expensive!)
Kunyit powder AKA Tumeric powder
Diced Garlic cloves
Ginger slices
Water

Preparations

Marinate fish with kunyit powder, Just add abit water and rub them all over until the fish is covered and set aside for awhile. (No need salt, kunyit powder is already salty!!)

Stir fry diced garlic and ginger slices in hot oil on medium heat. (For fear of the oil splatter, turn on the gas stove to medium heat, pour oil in and straight away add those garlic/ginger in and stir fry them, if the oil gets really hot, lower the flame to low heat and continue stir fry until golden color)

In low heat, slowly add the fish in (the TRICK is to slide those fish in from the edge to avoid splatters)

Once the fish don't stick then it's time to turn them around, but do standby because fish cooks really fast! Don't wanna overcook it. If it's still sticking to the wok means it ain't cooked at the bottom yet.

-THIS IS WHERE MY STOVE RAN OUT OF GAS!-

Ok, from here continue frying the fish on low heat and make sure that the fish has fully turned brown colour all-over then u can serve it with the oil, garlic and ginger together.
(Basically it is oily but kunyit powder is already salty, no need light soya sauce)

Baked Ikan Tenggiri
Preheat your oven at 180° degrees for 10min first.

U still need to stir fry those garlic & ginger slices till golden brown on a stove and then let it cool. After that use an aluminium foil to cover ur tray in the oven (u can skip this if u want, I do this to avoid washing an oily tray -lazy tips-). Then use another aluminium foil and place your fish in it and pour the oil with garlic and ginger over it then wrap the fish up.

This is how it looks like (Portugis baked fish style)

Place into the preheated oven at 180° degrees for 15 minutes.

Once it's done, remove it and serve them hot. I usually remove the fish and pour the excess sauce (oil, garlic, ginger) over it on a plate.

It's cooked inside, yum yum!

Best served hot with rice or porridge! Enjoy~
